Sacrament

I do not set aside the grace of God.

—New King James Version

At the time of Paul’s letter to the Galatian Christians, he has strongly condemned Peter’s decision to separate himself from Gentiles at meals (see vv. 11–20). Peter may have wanted to appease Jewish Christians who believed that their God-given law forbade eating with Gentiles. But Paul sees this act as contrary to the universality of Christ’s teachings.
