Prayer overcomes grief

One evening a few years ago, during a challenging time not long before my mom’s passing, I was on a walk, feeling unsupported and sorry for myself. Then, while admiring some Christmas lights, I took a misstep and fell, twisting my ankle. This occurred at some distance from my house, and I did not have my cellphone with me.

I was in some pain but stood and continued walking, slowly at first. As I reached out to God, the truth quickly dawned on me as if He were speaking directly to me: “Do you need anything other than the support I give you? I am with you always, providing everything you need.” This spiritual fact was like a brilliant light piercing the mental darkness I had been feeling. I returned home from my walk with no pain or swelling in my ankle.

When my mom passed a couple of days later, I felt our divine Father-Mother’s tender love supporting me. That weekend, my dance school had two major performances, and I was able to oversee them successfully, feeling buoyed by God’s grace.
