Two meaningful healings

I’d like to tell of two experiences that I remember gratefully. In both cases, I saw the applicable spiritual facts very clearly, and the result was healing. 

One afternoon, I began to have symptoms of a cold. I prayed a little, with no apparent result. As I was preparing to go to bed that night, the symptoms became more severe. I mentally rebelled against the suffering, since I knew God never causes us to suffer. I remembered some Bible verses and some sentences from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy that told the truth of my nature as God’s reflection. I especially recall, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee” (Isaiah 26:3) and this sentence from Science and Health: “The sinless joy,—the perfect harmony and immortality of Life, possessing unlimited divine beauty and goodness without a single bodily pleasure or pain,—constitutes the only veritable, indestructible man, whose being is spiritual” (p. 76).

I declared mentally and vigorously that God governed me and that I could not fear or suffer because I reflected the harmony, joy, love, and peace of divine Spirit. Within seconds, I began to feel those qualities as my actual experience.  I continued to affirm that I reflected spiritual qualities from God and saw that these qualities were the true substance of my being; I was not defined by physical conditions that could cause me to be sick.
