Proving the power of God during a pandemic

Feeling God’s care brings a harmonizing effect to our bodies that heals and prevents disease.

The coronavirus is still a serious issue today. For many, vaccines offer the hope of freedom from the problem. Still, for even greater freedom there’s another response that’s important to consider—discovering more of God’s power to protect and heal.

Awareness of God as divine Spirit strengthens mind and body, as suggested by Isaiah: “The Lord is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness. And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation” (Isaiah 33:5, 6). This promise, though, implies doing more than just blindly trusting that God will take care of us. It calls for a deeper knowledge of the empowering strength of God. This is something Jesus fully understood.

In the Christian Science textbook, Mary Baker Eddy speaks of Jesus’ prayers as “deep and conscientious protests of Truth,—of man’s likeness to God and of man’s unity with Truth and Love” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 12). “Deep and conscientious protests of Truth” lead us to find out more of what God, Truth, is and does. The Bible suggests that our true nature is spiritual and that we are made to express God. Consequently, the desire to know God and yield to His loving care is natural to us. Feeling this care from God brings a harmonizing effect to our bodies that heals and prevents disease.
