A trustworthy guide to employment

I knew that there was a job that was uniquely right for me.

Not long ago,  I couldn’t help but overhear a conversation in Spanish between two men who, like me, were waiting in line to go into a supermarket. One man was telling the other that he needed additional income and was thinking of looking for a second job. This would mean leaving home at six in the morning and not getting back until eleven at night, which would deprive him of precious time with his wife and four young children.

When the supermarket opened, I went in with everyone, but something prompted me to go back to my car to get a copy of The Herald of Christian Science. I wondered for a few moments whether I should give the magazine to the man, mainly because I didn’t know what his reaction would be. However, each issue’s articles and testimonies of healing, which speak to us of God’s loving care and healing power, have been such a blessing to me over the years, how could I not share it? These words from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures came to mind: “Millions of unprejudiced minds—simple seekers for Truth, weary wanderers, athirst in the desert—are waiting and watching for rest and drink. Give them a cup of cold water in Christ’s name, and never fear the consequences” (Mary Baker Eddy, p. 570).

God had shown me a talent I didn’t know I had.
