Severe leg injury healed
Both my husband and I were raised in Christian Science, and we met at the University of California, Berkeley, in the Christian Science Organization. We raised our children in this Science, and our family always had quick healings of childhood illnesses and injuries.
I would like to share a wonderful healing I had several years ago. Some steps had been replaced on the stairway outside our home, and as I was going downstairs one day, my shoe caught on one of the new steps, causing me to fall down head first. As I was falling, my thought turned to God, and I knew that in reality the everlasting arms of Love were always around me, keeping me safe.
A long, deep gash on my leg was bleeding heavily. A young man who was certified in emergency medical training was at our house, and he helped me inside and examined the wound. He said I needed many stitches and wanted to take me to the hospital. Instead, I called a Christian Science practitioner and asked for treatment through prayer.
Within minutes the blood stopped gushing. I then called the local Christian Science visiting nurse service. A Christian Science nurse came quickly and cleaned and bandaged the leg. She was competent and calming in her assurance and care. Visiting Christian Science nurses came every day to cleanse and bandage the leg, and they were very supportive.
My prayer each day was to see the omnipresence of God, good, and His tender care for me and everyone. The mortal beliefs of pain, length of time to heal, difficulty of the wound to close, and scarring were each denied and replaced with the understanding that an accident had never actually occurred in God’s harmonious kingdom. Every matter-based fear was replaced with the truth of my spiritual being as an idea of God. I affirmed that as God’s perfect reflection, I expressed the qualities of strength, wholeness, steadfastness, trust, and confidence.
As Christly thoughts flowed into consciousness, they brought comfort and the expectancy of healing. I am so grateful for all the love, support, and tender care I received. The clear statements of truth that were voiced to me by the practitioner and the Christian Science nurses were so helpful in keeping my thought clear and free.
Thanksgiving was the following week, and all of our family were together for this day. There were concerns about my walking, and it was suggested that because of my age, the wound would take a much longer time to heal, which I silently denied. This prediction was proved false, and the wound healed quickly and completely. In less than two weeks, there was no discomfort at all, even while walking. Within a month, there was complete healing, with no scar.
