The result of God's being
There is one Supreme Being, Christian Science teaches, and that Being is God, who is infinite divine Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, and Love. Each of those synonyms for God reveals something awe-inspiring about the essence and nature of the Supreme Being. God is always being God, always at full strength. The brilliant result of this action is you and me. God being God gives you existence. It’s described simply by Mary Baker Eddy this way: “Man is the expression of God’s being” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 470).
In the entirety of creation, you have been given a most significant role. Imagine all the jobs you could have been given, but you have been assigned the most important one, and that is simply to be part of “the expression of God’s being.” Since God’s being is infinite, you reflect the fullness and limitless goodness of God. To honor this in yourself is always powerful prayer.
No mortality or limitations are found in God’s being. There is no resentment or regret there, either. Just perfection and wholeness, without stain. With only one Being, there is nothing from which you could obtain lack, sin, or sickness. The Supreme Being is supreme good!
Boundless bliss is a feeling in your heart, a feeling in which you know you’re the outcome of God in action.
The Bible points out that God is not “worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things” (Acts 17:25). You wouldn’t ever mistakenly view the Supreme Being as if He needed something. As the literal “expression of God’s being,” in all ways you display the completeness of God’s nature. So would God behold you as needing anything? Does God’s complete expression lack health, purity, or justice? No, not any more than God would. Be conscious of how you’re blessed with the role of expressing nothing but God and are shining with God’s nature.
On page 481 of Science and Health, Mary Baker Eddy observes that “God’s being is infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss.” If “infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss” are what God possesses, then you naturally reflect these qualities. Boundless bliss is a feeling in your heart, a feeling in which you know you’re the outcome of God in action. Any day is a good day to open up to it, so why not today? Boundless bliss, the whole day through.
If God is supreme good, then you are splendidly and spiritually perfect, expressing God’s unchallenged power and authority. What the Bible says of Christ is true of everyone’s real, Christly nature: “For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell” (Colossians 1:19). The fullness of the Supreme Being—all that God has and is—is revealed in you. So your heart, outlook, attitude, and actions can overflow with expressing God. Why is this possible? Because God, your Father-Mother, causes it to be.
