How is Truth revealing itself to you?

This week’s Bible Lesson, titled “Truth,” not only sheds light on answers to the age-old question, “What is truth?” but also shows how truth is the law of God that heals and redeems.

Fundamental to all healing is the Golden Text that opens this Lesson: “I am God, and there is none else” (Isa. 46:9). And Mary Baker Eddy showed that “Christian Science is the law of Truth, which heals the sick on the basis of the one Mind or God” (Science and Health, p. 482, citation 9). How fitting that this Lesson discusses not only her discovery of the divine laws of Truth but the publication of her textbook that “has bluntly and honestly given the text of Truth” (see Science and Health, cits. 6–11).

Examining “the text of Truth” we discover that “Christ is the ideal Truth, that comes to heal sickness and sin through Christian Science, and attributes all power to God” (Science and Health, p. 473, cit. 18). We can observe Christ Jesus’ example of healing sin and disease. In Jesus’ day only death was considered harder than blindness to heal. Yet Jesus both healed the blind and raised the dead, although there is no record of healing blindness in the Old Testament or among Jesus’ disciples. These blind men followed Jesus into a house, crying, “Son of David, have mercy on us.” They may have used the appellation because they believed Jesus to be the Messiah who would bring healing to the blind. Interestingly enough they see Jesus as more than a mere prophet (Matt. 9:27, 28, 30, cit. 13).
