LETTERS

A year or so ago, I was talking to a church member, and she said that she never read anything else until she had read her Sentinel and The Christian Science Journal. This is a person whom I admire and respect, and so I decided that I'd take on the challenge and read the periodicals, each and every article. Even though I have a full-time teaching job, husband, home and church duties, I have not found this goal to be difficult; in fact, it has been a growing experience which has increased my understanding of Christian Science and has in turn enriched my human experience. My gratitude goes out to the people who write for the Sentinel and for those who work at bringing it to our homes every week.

An article written by Justin Marples from the February 8 Sentinel on scientific prayer seemed to especially speak to me at a time of need. He walked the reader through his healing of a hip problem and gave me some ideas to work with. Even though we are all going through our own unique experiences, it was helpful for me to read the steps that led to his healing.

Also, lately I have been repeating this statement to myself when fear and doubt are clamoring for attention: "Man is the offspring and idea of the Supreme Being, whose law is perfect and infinite," from page 82 of Mary Baker Eddy's Miscellaneous Writings. How cool is that, the offspring of the Supreme Being!
