I was all better!
THE NIGHT BEFORE my birthday I started having crazy dreams and feeling sick. I was really weak, couldn't eat anything but popsicles, and my head ached a lot. Lots of people at school had been talking about swine flu, and we'd heard of kids who had become sick.
My mom and I prayed. We talked about how perfect health is a quality of God that He has given to all of us. I understood that my body couldn't tell me I was sick, because God had already told me I was well always, and God tells me the truth. Sickness was a lie about my true self.
The next morning, Thursday, we called a Christian Science practitioner to pray with us. The practitioner talked with me about a Bible verse from the book of Zephaniah. It says, "The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing" (3:17). We prayed about that and trusted that God was powerful for me and for everyone at my school because so many kids, parents, and teachers were afraid of the flu.
I asked my mom to read to me from the book We Knew Mary Baker Eddy. I like to get to know Mrs. Eddy better by reading it and to hear how she healed others through prayer. I kept praying. I knew that God was not only taking care of me but of everyone.
That night, right in the middle of the night, the fever broke, and I stopped having crazy dreams. The next day my head was feeling mostly better. We kept praying about God, who was right here in the midst of us, being powerful, and that God was in the midst of my school, too.
Saturday, I was well and back to normal. And on Monday, since we didn't have school that day or Tuesday, I had two friends over to celebrate my birthday with me at the state fair and have a sleepover. We had an awesome time making movies with the iPod nano I'd gotten for my birthday, and jumping on the trampoline.
Oh, and since I went back to school on that Wednesday, I noticed no one has been talking about flu at all at my school.
