No other way

As I turned on the TV for a winter weather report the other morning, I came across a curious bit of news from Oklahoma. It told about a deer that had been stuck for several hours out on a frozen lake. The ice was not expected to hold much longer. All suggestions well-meaning people offered on how to rescue the deer were proving unworkable. Finally a TV news helicopter flew in to see what could be done. The pilot had the idea to use the force of the helicopter's rotor blades to blow the deer to shore. And that is what happened. Once on solid ground, the stunned animal scrambled back on its feet and safely ran off.

To me, this rescue was an inspiring example of healing creativity at work. There was a need. People responded, wanting to help. They listened for answers. Then, a spark of inspiration brought a resolution. Sentinel founder Mary Baker Eddy explained such creative spiritual activity in these words: "Spirit, God, gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels, and unfolds these thoughts, even as He opens the petals of a holy purpose in order that the purpose may appear" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 506).

Do you sometimes feel stuck in boring sameness, fruitless activity, or repetitive negative thinking? The winds of Spirit blow all the time to lift us out of hopeless, barren thoughts to inspired joy and new possibilities.

As you read the Sentinel this week, why not stop and take a moment to be "creative." Listen deeply for a fresh idea that might present itself in your work, your church activities, or some other place in your life. Then act on it. (For starters, you may want to check out contributing editor Bill Moody's list of possibilities on page 9.)

God is a God of spontaneous good and the source of ever-new inspiration and creativity. Our Father-Mother demands that your moments be full of activity that heals and blesses. Really, there is no other way.

WHAT I SAY UNTO YOU I SAY UNTO ALL, WATCH.

—JESUS

The Christian Science Sentinel was founded in 1898 by Mary Baker Eddy, and its mission remains the same: "to hold guard over Truth, Life, and Love." The Sentinel continues to report on the unlimited ways that the healing power and presence of the Christ activates, uplifts, and transforms the lives of everyday people around the world.
