A MOMENT OF TRANQUILITY

It had been an extremely busy day, and I just wanted to sit for a few minutes to switch gears and slow down. As I was rocking on the back porch swing that faces the swamp, a white heron flew in and landed just 20 feet away.

There's such diversity of wildlife where I live that I always have my camera nearby. Before I'd even committed myself to a picture, I was struck by the bird's extraordinary grace and beauty. Diffused sunlight streaming through the trees created patterns on the water.
