A HEALING INSPIRES CONFIDENCE IN PRAYER

As a lifelong Christian Scientist, I have found healing through prayer even in times of severe illness or injury. One experience in particular marked a turning point in my understanding of God's care for me.

After I finished my junior year in college, I joined four classmates for a long-distance road trip. Our transportation consisted of a convertible and a motorcycle. We took turns on the motorcycle, and when we reached the Rocky Mountains, it was my turn to ride it.

On one winding mountain road, I skidded on a sandy spot, losing control of the bike, and plummeted off into a ravine. The bike landed on top of me, and I lost consciousness. My friends were following in the car, and they summoned help. I was taken to a hospital where the doctor determined both my collarbones were broken, and some ribs were cracked.
