A NATURAL DISCIPLINE

Meet Mike Munhall, an educator whose standard is love.

Doesn't your heart sing when you learn of people who love teaching, and all-thingskids, even after decades in the school trenches? These are the uncommon individuals whose love for and awe of young people remain fresh and spontaneous.

Recently I met with Mike Munhall, who is Head of School at the South Shore Charter Public School in Norwell, Massachusetts—and clearly one of those special people. To him, maintaining a standard of excellence, while letting each child know that he or she is loved, is the norm.

As an administrator of a school with staff, parents, and kids from a broad spectrum of beliefs, Munhall doesn't talk about God. But he does refer to having "faith," and publicly has said of his school's progress, "It's our faith that is making it happen."
