'I JUST KEPT READING THE BOOK'

For many years, I longed for a philosophy that would bring deeper spiritual satisfaction to my life. I read many books in search of a discipline, a practical faith, capable of uplifting my mental views and attitudes. It was during this search that I first learned of Christian Science.

About seven years ago, I began attending services at the Christian Science Society in Kyoto, where I obtained a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, as well as copies of the Japanese edition of The Herald of Christian Science. Then I embarked on reading the literature of this Science seriously, in the course of which I was healed of a longstanding illness, hepatitis C.

During most of my adult life, I had suffered from hepatitis C. I had apparently contracted the disease as a result of a shot I received with a non-sterilized needle, while hospitalized with pneumonia. I was told there was no cure and over the next few years I was regularly in and out of hospitals for checkups. The prognosis the doctors eventually gave me was of an even direr nature.
