People tell their stories

Spiritual treatment ends toothache

About two years ago, I woke one morning with a terrible toothache. A couple of years prior to this, I had moved to a new city, and, although I routinely went to a dentist for cleanings, I had not yet found one in my new location. I'd never had a toothache.

I was raised in another religion before starting to study Christian Science over 20 years ago. I've had many healings by turning to God in prayer — including finding companionship, rewarding employment, financial stability, and a home. But this time the problem was physical, the pain was intense, and I was afraid. So, instead of going straight to God in prayer, I decided to phone my brother, who is a dentist in another city, to ask for his advice. He told me that I needed to get to a dentist right away to have the tooth X-rayed.

Prior to this time, I had been suffering with bouts of anxiety and stress after having been let go during staff reductions from a company I had been with for 11 years. I had really enjoyed my career as a sales executive, and missed it and the people I worked with tremendously. Even though I had found a new sales position at another company — and had a wonderful marriage and new home — I felt as if everything I had known had been taken away from me, that something was missing.
