Hey, Kids...

HAVE YOU EVER had something happen to you that made a real big difference in your life? Maybe you and your family moved to another town. Or your favorite teacher left your school.

Changes—whether they are big or little—can be tough for anyone.

The good news is that God never stops loving you and caring for you. Here's a promise about that. You can find it in the Bible: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning" (James 1:17).

God never changes. And He never stops giving you gifts—good gifts. Sometimes all it takes is a little looking to see how many of God's gifts there are to be grateful for. Doing that is like turning on a light in a dark room. It will help you find your way. And it can also help you to help other people find their way a little better.

The kids whose stories you'll read in this special kids' issue have done just that. As a matter of fact, we like to think of them as stars—God's stars—shining a light for all of us.

For example, Emily helped a friend whose mother is in prison. Helen moved from New Zealand to Australia, and had to learn to live with some critters she wasn't so sure about. Levi prayed for his bird, which had lost its feathers after an encounter with his dog. And Lisa found a way to feel comforted after her grandmother died. When things were tough, all of these kids found that God's love was right there for them, helping them.

Every one of you is God's star—and His joy! And the Kids' Sentinel is a place where you can tell us about how you've been able to shine and make your world a brighter place. Keep writing. And send us your drawings, thoughts, and ideas, too. We're looking forward to hearing from you!
