The old mindset is starting to weaken. The one that says healing prayer is wishful thinking, blind faith, or mere fantasy and that medical science is the only reliable method of healing. Today, people from all walks of life and every educational stratum are challenging the old mantra that faith and medicine are incompatible worlds.

A serious inquiry into reliable, quantifiable spiritual healing has taken off, not only among spiritual thinkers, but in academic and research institutions. For example, a few weeks ago, The New York Times ran a front-page article titled "Can prayers heal? Critics say studies go past science's reach" (Oct. 10). The article draws no definitive conclusions, but presents a lengthy examination into the ongoing debate within the medical community about the effectiveness of prayer to heal.

Christian Science, discovered over a century ago by Mary Baker Eddy, provides definitive and conclusive proof of the validity of spiritual healing. This system, explained in her book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, has a documented record healing attributed to truly scientific prayer not the science of medical research, but the eternal Science of metaphysical laws that Jesus taught and practiced.
