An injured hand healed through prayer
Original in Spanish
One afternoon, at the Miami airport, I was working in the tourist cabin of a Boeing 707, while the passengers boarded the plane.
A very large box containing the passengers' food, which was more than three feet in height, became stuck. I had to exert a lot of effort to move it, and the ring finger of my left hand became wedged between the galley [the airplane's kitchen] and the steel edge of the box. My finger began to bleed profusely.
The first thing I did was remember the beginning of "the scientific statement of being," from Science and Health: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all" (p. 468). This was the first passage I had ever learned by heart from this book.
I kept my thought firmly on those statements. I didn't think of anything else for many minutes.
The flight attendants, who had seen what had happened, kindly wrapped my finger in one of the little towels used by the passengers. I continued to think of the truth about God contained in "the scientific statement of being." The plane left on time, as usual.
After returning to the unloading ramp and cleaning the truck, I went to the restroom to wash my hands. To my surprise, I found nothing wrong with either of them. There was no mark anywhere. I was very surprised, because I kept looking all over my left hand, and all my fingers were fine. For many days I felt enveloped in the inspiration I received from this healing.
I want to thank God for the beautiful treasure that Science and Health has been for me. I would also like to mention words of Jesus, in the Bible, that always help me very much: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32).
