JOY that can't be stolen away

Elusive. Here one minute; gone the next. That's what I used to think about joy. For a long time I even thought everybody else was happy most of the time except me.

I didn't take much comfort in the Bible promise that no man can take your joy from you. That promise sounded pretty hollow to me, since every time I turned around, it felt as if somebody or some circumstance was taking away what little happiness I had. That promise, I thought, must be for all those other (happy) people. For me? Forget it. ... I'm out of that loop.
