How I dealt with bomb threats at my daughters' schools

What do you do when you learn that both of your children's schools have received bomb threats, and the school administration has decided to hold classes anyway? What if there were also rumors that there might be a shooting at the middle school? For this author, the choice involved trusting God and sending her children to school. In these three pieces, each of them—the mother and her two daughters—tells what was most meaningful to her that day.

I was at work when I learned about threats that bombs—one at the middle school that my daughter Jessica attended and one at the high school where my daughter Casey is a senior—might go off the next day. It was clear to me that prayer was needed to counteract a frightening and potentially dangerous situation.

The next morning as I was praying, I made a special effort to listen closely to God. After I had waited patiently, the ninety-first Psalm came through to me loud and clear. I knew it was an answer from God. It was not something I had given much attention to in a while.
