Infant's neck injury fully healed

My car telephone rang. It was my son telling me that my six-month-old daughter had fallen down the basement stairs in her walker. My husband, who is not a Christian Scientist, had taken her to the hospital. I immediately asked my son what he had learned in the Christian Science Sunday School that could help in this situation. He responded that he knew his sister could not be harmed, because God loved her. I urged him to keep knowing that God had never left his sister's side for a moment and that accidents were not a part of God's world. I assured him that I would be praying, as well.

As I drove to the hospital, I reiterated to myself that my daughter could never for a moment be separated from God's love. God was her protection, and His law was in force at all times. I also called my sister, who is a Christian Science practitioner, and left a message on her answering machine. My calm was not altered by her not being home. I knew that as a practitioner, she was constantly affirming the omnipotence of God.

At the hospital, I could hear my daughter's cries from quite a distance. When I got to her room, she was surrounded by people and equipment. The sight was visually intimidating, but I more firmly than ever acknowledged that my daughter's health was unalterable because it had its source in God.
