Dear Sentinel,
I am really grateful for the healing I had when I was playing football on the playground. I fell over and banged by head and elbow on the concrete. Everyone crowded round me. I was crying. One of the teachers took me to the Care Centre, and on the way he said, "Nothing can hurt you in God's kingdom." In the Care Centre the nurse said, "Nothing can hurt you, because nothing is there to hurt you."
I read some hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal. One of them was Hymn 148:
In heavenly Love abiding,
No change my heart shall fear;
And safe is such confiding,
For nothing changes here.
Then I felt much better and went back to class.

I am very pleased that Matthew has written about his experience at school and sent it off to you. I teach at the same school that Matthew attends. While the school has a Christian Science foundation, the majority of the children and teachers are not of the Christian Science faith. The teacher on duty in the playground is a Quaker, but he knew that Matthew attends a Christian Science Sunday School. He prayed to say something appropriate to him as he came over to where Matthew was lying. When he dispersed the children, he spoke quietly to Matthew of God's power to heal.
Several children came to tell me that Matthew had fallen. When I arrived at the Care Centre, he was lying quietly in bed. We expressed our joy in God's protective power and the fact that man's being cannot be changed.
He continued to rest during the lunch break, and then returned to class for the afternoon with no adverse effects. Matthew was so taken by the experience that he stood up and shared it with our church's congregation at the Thanksgiving Day church service.
Yours faithfully,
David Ford
