Only one power and only one government

Original in Portuguese

Maybe we're feeling frustrated because we placed our trust in someone; we voted for him or her because we thought this candidate would resolve all our country's problems, and, all of a sudden, the person is accused of committing many crimes against the people. It is also possible that we may be feeling we can no longer trust politicians and those in government positions. Many countries are either currently facing this problem or have faced it at other times.

What actually disappoints us is not so much a person but wrongly placed trust or what we might call the belief in a power apart from God. On the other hand, the recognition that only God has authority and that we are governed exclusively by laws established by Him—by Love, Truth, and Life—keeps us from being frustrated or disappointed.

Maybe you are just like me, a common citizen. Maybe someone, right now, is working for a boss who is an opportunistic tyrant, who exploits his employees. Would prayer be effective in such circumstances? Prayer is always the best way to resolve a disagreeable situation. Let us turn to the divine Mind for guidance. Let us affirm with sincerity that there is only one governor, only one boss, only one power. Let us acknowledge, fearlessly, that to obey God is our unconditional duty. The guidance divine Mind will certainly give us is rooted in integrity, justice, and love. This higher understanding will help to eliminate distress and will provide the means to wipe out injustice and wrongdoing.
