I was introduced to Christian Science at the age of six, after my parents had lost two other children. In this time of tribulation they searched for shelter in religion, looking for a way to mend a broken heart. They found it in what Christian Science reveals of God and man.

I have received tremendous healings from Christian Science, which is based on the understanding of the laws of God taught and practised by Christ Jesus.

When I was at college I loved playing football. One day during vacation, I was playing football with my friends, and in the course of participating in this lovely game that I cherished, I struck my foot against a stone in the field and broke one of my toes (I was playing with bare feet). Friends gathered to sympathise with me, but the truth I had been learning in Christian Science, that man is the image and likeness of God, and that God's presence is everywhere, appeared to me like an angel.

I acknowledged God's allness, and maintained that nothing can harm God's image and likeness, and that nothing spiritual has limbs that could be broken, fractured, or bleeding. Also, an instance in the Bible, where Daniel was not eaten up by the lions when he was in their den, proved to me God's omnipotence and omnipresence. I also thought of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who were not burnt by the fire they were thrown into because they were hated for worshiping God.

I stood up and walked home without material remedy or help. On reaching home I explained the situation to my household, which is composed of Christian Scientists. I solicited their prayers in maintaining in our thoughts God's allness and goodness. After three days I was able to walk without limping. And by a week's time the toe was healed completely, with no trace of deformity. I have played football again in subsequent times.

For the truth of man's perfect state, as found in Christian Science, I am very grateful to God.

I wish to verify this testimony of healing. It was a wonderful incident, for with Chinwe's understanding of the supreme Deity, this wound healed without any medical consultation. Really, the testifier looked away from the body before he had the healing. I think it is better to be "absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord" (II Cor. 5:8).
