I share this healing with the hope that it will give strength...

I share this healing with the hope that it will give strength and understanding to the struggling ones, such as I once was. I had been suffering for several years from a mild discomfort in one of my breasts. Four years ago this intensified and there was a well-defined lump. My arm was growing painful as well, and I was very frightened.

I called a practitioner to help me through Christian Science treatment. He asked me to study the Bible Lesson for that week from the Christian Science Quarterly, which was on the subject "Love." I never will forget the wonderful revelation I had when I read that Lesson—it was a touch of the Christ, Truth.

There was a passage in the Bible describing Jesus healing a multitude of sick people. I noticed particularly that it said, "He was moved with compassion on them" (Matt. 9:36), and I saw so clearly that my instruction, my goal, and my object of desire now was no longer just to be healed physically (although I knew this must be accomplished). My goal had to be to live more closely to the way Jesus lived—to follow his example to some degree.

All my intense fear left as I set about my new life-giving goal. I knew that everything I did, as well as everything I thought, had to have its basis in divine Love. So I permitted myself to think only thoughts of good, thoughts of God, and made every word and deed correspond to this Christlike consciousness.

I was completely healed within the week of everything associated with the condition, and it has never returned.

There have been other healings in our family since then— of broken bones, a sprained ankle, burns, warts, and colds, to name just a few. But this healing stands out as a beacon in my life, because I realized and proved that divine Love is the basis of my beloved Church.
