Christian Science has been a source of support and strength all my life. When I was an infant, my father was healed of a disease considered incurable. After that my mother became a devoted student of Christian Science. My sisters and I had a happy and healthy childhood, which I took for granted. However, later there came a time when I had to prove the efficacy of this method of spiritual healing for myself.

While I was teaching in a business school in a stressful environment, I developed a nervous disorder. During this time I was in regular contact with a Christian Science practitioner, who prayed for me, and I was never absent from my work. Total freedom from the nervous disorder took some time, but it was a period of much spiritual growth.

The healings of migraine and of stomach trouble, as well as the complete restoration of my hand that had been mangled in the wringer of a washing machine, are all sources of gratitude. I am also thankful to have experienced God's protection and guidance in my role as a single, working mother.

Above all I am grateful for being able to turn to divine Love for guidance in day-to-day living. The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany by Mrs. Eddy states: "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee. Therefore despair not nor murmur, for that which seeketh to save, to heal, and to deliver, will guide thee, if thou seekest this guidance." This passage has been of great help to me. I find that experiences come to us which provide tender lessons for our spiritual growth. We do not need to outline what those lessons will be, we need only seek and follow divine Love's guidance.

When faced with any form of limitation, I am often reminded of Christ Jesus' words "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew). I am so happy to have some understanding of spiritual existence. And I am grateful that Mrs. Eddy so loved mankind that she wanted everyone to learn of the Science behind the great truths that Christ Jesus taught and lived.
