Christian Science was introduced to my mother at a time when she had been in ill health for some years. A woman who was a Christian Scientist had begun renting a room in our house. She shared some excerpts from the Bible and from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy with my mother from time to time. Upon seeing Mother's interest, she loaned her Science and Health. Thus began our study of Christian Science.

Mother drank in the truths contained in Science and Health and was healed through reading the book. Our home was transformed from a place of inharmony and unhappiness to a joyful, loving atmosphere. For the rest of her long life Mother remained a faithful student of Christian Science and actively relied on God to meet all her needs.

At the time of my marriage my husband was not interested in Christian Science, but he was most supportive of my desire to rely on Science. Some years later he was healed of smoking, became an active student of Science, and spent many years in dedicated service to the Church.

Shortly after our daughter was born, we were told by the doctor that an obstruction was preventing her from retaining any food. We were told we must leave her in the hospital and warned that should she continue to lose weight, an operation would be necessary.

A dear friend who was a Christian Science practitioner was called, and prayerful work was begun. (Our daughter received no medication while in the hospital.) I never doubted that Christian Science would heal this difficulty; it had been proved effective so many times before in our family. In a few days the baby had gained enough weight to be dismissed from the hospital, and we brought her home. What a joyous day that was!

Our prayer continued, and the healing progressed. I read aloud the Bible Lesson (outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly) to her each morning. Each day brought improvement, and the child quickly developed into a perfectly healthy infant.

Christian Science has been the biggest blessing of my life. It has brought me comfort in sorrow, healing in sickness, protection in traveling, and supply for daily needs. It is with humility that I sincerely say, "Thank you, Father."
