One evening I was hit full-force in one eye by a tennis ball served from the opposite court. The pain was terrible, but right away "the scientific statement of being" in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy poured into my thought as though it were being spoken: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual."

The coach began to predict dire consequences for me. He urged me to go to a hospital immediately. Excusing myself, I went into a locker room, where I continued to pray. All the while, I felt God's loving presence and felt very cared for. The pain disappeared. In the hours that followed, there was no swelling or discoloration nor was my vision imparied. I'm very grateful for this healing; it showed me how instantly Truth meets our needs.

Some time ago I discovered a growth on my breast. At first I felt frightened. I prayed to feel God's presence. Then I telephoned a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful support. She spoke of wonderful spiritual truths, and I felt peace and confidence in God's healing power. The fear was healed, and I continued to pray on my own.

At first I would look in the mirror, thinking to myself, "Is it gone yet?" I knew looking constantly in the mirror to see if it had gone was not really a help to this spiritual healing. I must be responsive to Christ, Truth, if I was going to rely on Truth to heal me. So, I stopped checking in the mirror all the time and sought to understand God as never before. I spent many wonderful hours reading and digesting the truths in Science and Health. In particular, the chapter "Science of Being" was most helpful. Some time later I noticed the growth had entirely disappeared. I was absolutely overjoyed and still am!

I have had many other healings, including those of colds, mumps, and headaches. I am so grateful for God's loving care and for Christian Science.
