Finding a spiritual solution to financial problems

We've heard many times that to have our human needs met, we must put God first. But what does this mean in practice? And does it really work?

Many people are struggling to pay their bills and feeling burdened with heavy debts. The pressure of obligations to others can seem overwhelming. Where can we look when there seems to be no human solution?

Christ Jesus, centuries ago, in speaking of the true sense of values, said, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matt. 6:33. He knew our first debt is to God, the Father—to love Him more, to understand Him better, and to serve Him well in payment of gratitude for the infinite goodness being continually bestowed on His children. By seeking the spiritual understanding of God first, above all else, we can then be divinely led, step by step, to conduct our business and financial affairs wisely, and ultimately to break free of crushing financial obligations.

Jesus had no regular salary or means of support, and yet his understanding of God was so complete that his needs and those of the disciples were always met. As they traveled around the country about the Father's business, they were supplied with food, shelter, clothing, and transportation, because of the Master's realization and complete assurance that an abundance of good always comes from God.
