I would like to say how very grateful I am for Christian Science

I would like to say how very grateful I am for Christian Science. Following its teachings is so rewarding.

Our family became interested in Christian Science when I was a boy, and I was encouraged to go to the Christian Science Sunday School. I resisted, however, and went only a few times. Later, when I went into the military, I did begin to study Christian Science because I had seen how the study of Science helped my mother. Throughout my four-year tour of duty I was free from physical ailments, and I credit this to my prayerful thinking and my increasing consciousness of Truth. After I left the service, I met a wonderful young woman who was also a Christian Scientist and who later became my wife.

An experience I had with my teeth was proof to me of God's great love for man. For several years I had had toothaches, but I had feared the dentist's chair and had merely put up with the pain. Yet I continued to grow in my understanding of Christian Science, and after having Christian Science class instruction I felt spiritually armed for battle when I again suffered an attack of this pain.

As it happened, I was out washing the car one afternoon when my tooth started aching. In the past in similar situations I would open my mouth, thinking the cool air would ease the pain. But when I started to do that this time, I said to myself forcefully, "What are you trying to do?" At that instant a passage from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy came to me (p. 527): "Man is God's reflection, needing no cultivation, but ever beautiful and complete." The meaning of this statement was so clear to me that instantly there was no more pain, and there has been no trouble with my teeth in the twenty years or so since that time.

Another healing experience happened when I got up to go home from work one day and found I could not stand on my right foot without pain. At first I thought the trouble was probably just a cramp, but by evening time my foot still wasn't any better. The next morning the condition persisted, and I realized that I needed to face this situation through prayer in Christian Science.

I earnestly read that week's Bible Lesson, and a passage from Science and Health quickly met my need. This was the statement that so illumined my consciousness and cast out fear (p. 323): "Beholding the infinite tasks of truth, we pause,—wait on God. Then we push onward, until boundless thought walks enraptured, and conception unconfined is winged to reach the divine glory." Dwelling on Truth, I went to work; and by the end of the day there was no more pain.

These are just a few of the wonderful proofs that my family and I have had of the healing power of Christian Science. My wife and I are very grateful for having had Christian Science class instruction; it has meant so much in gaining a better understanding of God and man. For our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I am indeed most grateful.

It is a privilege to verify my husband's testimony as just stated. We have had so many wonderful proofs in our family, over the years, of God's loving care, evidenced in guidance, supply, protection, and healing.

Our son, when a toddler, ran into a wall heater. He came crying to me, and I held to the spiritual fact that nothing could ever really interfere with God's perfect plan for His beloved child. I just knew that my son could never be separated from God's ever-present care. Mrs. Eddy states in science and health (p. 424): "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection." Almost immediately he quieted down, his crying ceased, and the incident ceased to bother him. Burn marks across his face disappeared, leaving no scars.

We are so grateful that both our daughter and son attended a Christian Science Sunday School until the age of twenty, and without any prompting from us.

All the good that comes to each and every one of us comes straight from God, for He is good. Isn't Christian Science wonderful! It's the truth.
