More than ever before, I see the need to share with others...
More than ever before, I see the need to share with others our healings in Christian Science.
I am especially grateful for a healing our seven-year-old daughter had this past school year. One day her school called me and told me to come immediately because our little girl had fallen in gym class. I felt especially concerned, for I had struggled with the fear that an emergency might arise at school that we, as Christian Scientists, would be unable to meet.
When I arrived at the school, the nurse's office was filled with people—a volunteer ambulance attendant, office staff, and the classroom teacher—all very worried about the condition of our daughter. The ambulance attendant indicated that the child had a broken nose. In view of this the school personnel felt it was necessary to take her to the emergency medical center. I had called a Christian Science practitioner before leaving home and again from the school. I decided to take our child home. (The practitioner had said she would come over immediately.) The school staff reluctantly, but lovingly, helped me get our daughter to the car.
Minutes after we arrived home the Christian Science practitioner came and spent time with our child, reading to her from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Although it was evident that healing was taking place, I was afraid of what the school would think if we didn't get the child's nose X-rayed. I called the medical clinic and was told to come right down. Then I told our daughter, who responded by asking if I would just let her rest and make her own decision. I felt this was God's message to me, and the fear lifted. By the time my husband, who had been notified of the incident, arrived home, our daughter was up playing. She was healed and back in school in two days.
Later, the gym teacher, who had been serving the school for many years, mentioned to me how our daughter had reentered gym class with no fear. As for myself, I had feared that I would not be competent, in the face of a difficulty with our children, to know the truth clearly enough to bring healing to the situation. I now understand that reasoning to have been erroneous. In this healing I was clearly a witness to the omnipotence of God. Truly, His work is perfect. We read in Science and Health (p. 151), "The divine Mind that made man maintains His own image and likeness."
I am most grateful for Christian Science class instruction and the yearly association meeting, through which we may rededicate our lives to God by following the example set by our Way-shower, Christ Jesus.

When I fell, it hurt, but once I got home the practitioner came and read to me from Mrs. Eddy's book. It made me feel a little better. When she had read to me a little more I felt wonderful. I lay in bed, but when she left I got up and played and squeezed oranges to make orange juice.
NEL SHELBY
I am Nel Shelby's father, and my daughter was healed as my wife has related in her testimony. I am not a Christian Scientist but am very thankful for this healing.
