"Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" (Rom. 12:2). This exhortation has been proved practical in my own life.

My first healing, that of chronic earaches, occurred through the help of a Christian Science practitioner, when I was a child. My mother and grandmother were interested in Christian Science at the time. But many years passed before, at the urging of a close friend, I took up the study of this divinely scientific religion.

As an adult I was confused and frustrated over the state of my personal life and career. I had also been trying to maintain physical stamina through pills and rub-on potions. Finally I concluded that if Christian Science could heal me I did not need these material "cure-alls," and I threw them all out. With the consistent reading of Science and Health and Mrs. Eddy's other works, I saw the transforming power of God heal a condition of chronically infected tonsils. (I had been told during a required physical examination that the tonsils should be removed.) As I continued to read and ponder Mrs. Eddy's writings, unsightly skin eruptions gradually disappeared. My whole life stabilized.

Soon I began to attend services in branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, and to visit Christian Science Reading Rooms in various cities where my work as a professional singer took me. On one of these entertainment tours I met the man who was to become my husband. I had been prayerfully considering the qualities I would appreciate in a husband. And I found out later that he had been praying earnestly to overcome personal difficulties. Soon he became interested in Christian Science, and he was eventually healed.

After our marriage I became an active church member, serving out of a deep sense of gratitude to God and a desire to be part of the great good that Christian Science is bringing to the world. Inspiration and spiritual growth have come with every activity. Regular visits to the Christian Science Reading Room have given me a sense of fulfillment. And Christian Science class instruction has rounded out my preparation for an even fuller participation in the work of bringing this healing Science to the world.

Through a growing spiritual understanding of what "home" and "work" really mean, I have found that needs concerning home and work have been beautifully met. For many years my husband and I appeared on television and published cartoon drawing books. This involved contract work with many waiting periods. Often there was a sense of anxiety about the outcome. At one point, after I had enlisted the help of a practitioner, I was able to come to the spiritual conclusion that there were no waiting periods in divine Mind. I realized that I couldn't possibly have more good than I had right at that moment and I did not have to wait one second for it! I was not troubled by anxiety over the contracts again, and progress in and fulfillment from our work were evident from that time on.

For me one of the clearest proofs of God's protecting, sustaining, and healing power came during my term as Second Reader in my branch church, when symptoms of faulty heart action became evident. On several occasions I called on a practitioner for help through prayer. On page 587 of Science and Health "heart" is defined as "mortal feelings, motives, affections, joys, and sorrows." As I prayed to gain better control of my feelings and motives, gradually the condition yielded. I was entirely healed. During my term as Reader I did not miss a Sunday service, except for vacations.

Other healings include that of susceptibility to heavy colds. At one time, using the Concordances to Mrs. Eddy's writings, I looked up what she has written about "immortal" and "immortality." As a result of this study I was healed of a painful muscle and joint condition.

I have come to view our weekly Bible Lesson as God's loving provision. This has prompted me to search deeply into the lesson each week to find what has been included that seems especially for me—that which arrests my attention, causing me to pause, to prayerfully ponder, and often to do research. Invariably I find spiritual growth occurring.

I am eternally grateful to God for divine Science, practiced by Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and shared by the Master's devoted follower, Mrs. Eddy. An understanding of this Science has opened the door to the kingdom of heaven on earth for me.

As the husband mentioned in this testimony, I can verify that it is true as stated. I am grateful for the many benefits that I have received through what I have been able to understand and demonstrate of Christian Science.
