I became acquainted with Christian Science while in my early teens. One of my high-school friends invited me to go with her to the Christian Science Sunday School she attended. When I did, it was like going through an open door into a new world. Our family had experienced considerable tragedy, but in the Sunday School I learned that God is Love and that He sends only good to His children. For this I could never be grateful enough.

During the Depression I was able to go to college. It had seemed impossible at one time, but through prayer I was able to demonstrate that divine Love supplies all our needs. Employment was always available when I needed it, and the Christian Science college organization on campus was a wonderful help and inspiration.

I have had many healings in Science, but one of the clearest to me was the healing of one of my hands, which had been partially paralyzed for about two years. I was working as an accountant and studying piano during this period, so the condition was very inconvenient. At first, I didn't take it seriously. Instead I just dismissed the problem. However, it gradually became worse. A Christian Science practitioner helped me from time to time, and I studied and prayed the best I knew how. Then one morning I could not use my hand at all.

At that point I had to sign a check for the day's business. I was alone in the office and I just reached out to God for help. I knew that all power and strength come from God—that muscles have no power to lose. Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy tells us (p. 375): "Palsy is a belief that matter governs mortals, and can paralyze the body, making certain portions of it motionless. Destroy the belief, show mortal mind that muscles have no power to be lost, for Mind is supreme, and you cure the palsy." In a few moments I reached out for a pen and found I could hold it firmly and write as well as ever. It was wonderful proof of God's power and of His love for all His ideas. This healing has been permanent.

I am very grateful for Science and for Mrs. Eddy, who shared this Science of Truth with us. Also, I am very grateful for Christian Science class instruction and for the privilege of teaching in the Sunday School.
