Since I have practiced this marvelous religious teaching, I have been reborn. The physical, moral, personal, and financial healings I have had are more than I can tell. Before knowing of Christian Science I suffered extremely from the fear of illness. No medical remedy, none of the many visits of medical specialists, helped me, and I grew worse from day to day.

I had just become acquainted with a dear person who lent me Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, that I might find relief from my illnesses. One night I woke with a high fever, pains, and a severe hemorrhage. I called the doctor, who stated I must be taken to a medical facility immediately to have an operation.

I did not wish to have this order carried out. That same night I telephoned a Christian Science practitioner, and read the Bible and Science and Health until morning. As I read, I felt surrounded by a marvelous peace and freedom.

The next day I was free of the fever, and there was no further trace of the hemorrhage. While reading the Bible the evening before, I had been very much inspired by the incident in which Christ Jesus healed the woman who had had an issue of blood for twelve years (see Matt. 9:20-22). When I called the doctor to tell him I would not have the operation, because I was healed, he visited me and told me that if he himself had not diagnosed the illness, he would not have believed such a sudden healing.

From then on I have never used medicine, nor has a doctor visited me. Every physical disturbance has been healed through prayer, with the help of a Christian Science practitioner and above all, with the certainty that it is always the Father that heals us.

Some years after, I needed to find a home and prayed to see that because divine Love always cares for our needs a suitable place was already waiting for me. Although I wanted to rent an apartment, I was greatly blessed by finding one for sale and at an appropriate price. Also, my daughter and her family live in the city where I reside, and my grandchildren attend Sunday School in the branch Church of Christ, Scientist, of which I am a member.

I felt satisfied and grateful, but there was still a concern that troubled me: my work as a free-lance journalist, that is, as a professional writer, did not provide an income when I was not working. One day while reading Science and Health, I dwelt on this idea (p. 494): "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." I pondered these words for a long time, and from then on I trusted, knowing that the Father-Mother God, who knows only present good—the nowness of good—certainly provides all good for His loved children. First tranquillity, then hope, and finally certainty freed me from fear of the next day. Soon after that, in an economic crisis in which many young people could find no work, and at an age in which normally one has left off working, I found regular employment. My job was with one of the more important European publishers and with updated registration. Thus I obtained what is regularly called social security.

I am deeply grateful for the practitioner who has always helped me in moments of need and for The Mother Church, of which I am a member. I seek to spread the healing word of Christ Jesus, thanking God to be able to help others, and to see that several acquaintances, friends, and relatives have with joy become students of Christian Science. My gratitude goes to Mrs. Eddy, who with her works has enabled us to understand the Bible. Every day in my prayers I ask the Father to increase my understanding, so that I can live in the certainty that man is one with Him throughout eternity.
