Four years ago, when I was facing seriously strained relations with my family, I was given an invitation to a Christian Science lecture. At the time, restoration of poor relations to normalcy seemed impossible, and I felt depressed, lonely, and useless. I was told by a student that Christian Science solves problems, heals diseases, and reveals the real nature of man as God's idea, His reflection. This impressed me and drew me to the lecture.

I attended, doubting I could comprehend it. But it was so beautifully given I followed it clearly. The lecturer's explanation of the healing power of Christ, Truth, and the illumination he shed on the Lord's Prayer, displaced the darkness in my consciousness with a great influx of spiritual light. The burdensome relationship problem began to fade away. Within two days I was healed of the smoking habit I had had for three decades.

Christian Science has taught me that all are truly children of God, not material but spiritual. "The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea,—perfect God and perfect man,—as the basis of thought and demonstration" (Science and Health, p. 259). This statement of Mrs. Eddy's, along with other truths she has given, has had a great impact on me. As I gradually realized that loneliness and inharmony have no real existence, I was permanently healed of mental depression and strained relationships. Ever since, I have maintained good relationships with everyone.

Some years before I found Christian Science, my first son was suffering from asthmatic trouble. Diet restrictions had been imposed on him, and he was generally listless and dull. We tried various systems of medicine, including homeopathy, but the disease worsened. After I became a student of Science, we discarded all medicine, and the diet restrictions on the boy were lifted. A local Christian Science practitioner prayed for him, and within two months he was completely healed of the asthma.

My son and I are now members of The Mother Church, established by our faithful Leader, Mrs. Eddy. Our Father-Mother God is All-in-all to us, and this Science is our way of life.
