Shortly after I started studying Christian Science, I was healed of blood poisoning within two weeks time through the prayer of a Christian Science practitioner. I was very grateful, and very enthusiastic about Christian Science.

Before becoming acquainted with Science, my daughter and I had had hay fever for a few years. After we had studied Science for a while, the symptoms lessened. A few years later I suddenly realized that we had both been completely and permanently healed.

During the Depression my husband was out of work. While I was in the country for a short vacation with our two daughters, along with studying the Bible Lesson in the Christian Science Quarterly I read an article from a Christian Science periodical. The thought that impressed and inspired me was that the law of God is present and is in operation, and we may scientifically bring God's law to bear on any problem.

I had always gone to church and read the Bible and prayed to God. But now I understood how to pray scientifically. This article so inspired me that I knew there was a right place for my husband—he would find his proper employment. I was joyful to understand that God takes care of all. Two days later we went home and learned that my husband had a government job. He was so employed until he retired.

Last year I had been in close touch with someone who had skin cancer. A similar condition appeared on my cheek. In prayer for myself I knew that I "live, and move, and have [my] being" in God (Acts 17:28); and I knew there is no cancerous growth in Him, therefore I did not have it. I reasoned that I cannot have anything that God does not have, because I am a spiritual idea in divine Mind. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy says (p. 463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive." In a few weeks time the growth completely vanished.

Recently a pain in my back made it difficult for me to get up from a chair. The next morning I could not get out of bed. Immediately this verse came to me from the Bible (Isa. 41:10): "Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." I said to myself, "God takes me by the right hand of His righteousness and lifts me up." I got right up out of bed without any trouble and had no more pain.

A few days later I woke very early in the morning and read in The Christian Science Journal. I had felt extremely exhausted for about seven months and had spent most of the time resting. In this Journal was a testimony in which a portion of this Bible verse was quoted (I Chron. 28:20): "Fear not, nor be dismayed: for the Lord God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord." This glorious promise made me realize I could go to church that day and do some work I had planned to do. I saw that my identity as God's idea was all that I took with me. I was healed right then when I realized my true identity is the perfect child of God. I must always know my true identity and never identify myself with disease or any other evil. I went to church and later worked in the yard for an hour, clearing it of weeds around the building. Now I am free of the exhaustion and weakness.

I am an octogenarian, and through my study and understanding of Christian Science I take care of my home and family and church duties.
