Is the World Coming to an End?

It all depends on how one defines his world. In the measure he perceives creation to be fundamentally spiritual, his world comes into clearer and sharper focus and grows more stable and secure. On the other hand, to the degree one views his world as a mass of matter sustaining life and substance, that world must be outgrown.

Mistaken beliefs are coming to an end. The real world—the creation established by God, Spirit—is endless. If we are viewing His creation inaccurately, however, our distorted concepts inevitably dissolve as spiritual facts are brought to light.

If we view our world as threatening and having the capacity to overcome us, we may feel somewhat like the disciple Ananias in the days of Saul. With his threats and persecutions, Saul may have almost represented to Ananias and the other disciples the end of their world. But Saul was transformed. False and fearful views of him dissolved. If Saul came to an end, it was only to become Paul. What Ananias had feared went through a transforming process and actually became a support.
