Recalling the many blessings I have had through the application of the wonderful truth taught in Christian Science, I share the following healing.

Years ago when I first started attending a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, I had a growth on my face. It had not caused any discomfort until a dear neighbor remarked about it and insisted that it would be so simple to have a doctor remove it. She knew I was a student of Christian Science, so I told her I would much rather be healed through Christian Science. Later she mentioned it again in the presence of my husband. He also said I should make an appointment with a doctor. He was extremely opposed to Christian Science. At his insistence I made an appointment. While I was waiting to see the doctor, an emergency case came in, and my appointment had to be postponed. After three attempts to see the doctor, and having my appointment postponed each time, I went home, sat down, and quietly prayed and listened for guidance.

Then I picked up The Christian Science Journal; it opened to the testimony section. The testimony I read was written by a former medical nurse. She told of having seen Christian Science heal a case when all else failed in the hospital where she worked. Out of curiosity she obtained a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. She had a growth on her face. As she read Science and Health she reasoned that God must love her just as much as He loved those whose healings had come through Christian Science after medical care in the hospital had failed to heal them. With this reasoning she had an instantaneous healing of the growth on her face.

At that moment my thought was filled with love and gratitude to God for guiding me to this particular testimony. Then I began to reason from the standpoint of God's great love for all, including the two individuals who had insisted that I go to a doctor, and I was healed of resentment. I realized that their concern was a loving concern for my welfare.

A few days later our little daughter, who was eleven at the time, said with great surprise, "Mama, where is that thing on your face?" I did not realize I was healed until that moment. I ran to the mirror and saw that my face was completely healed.

One of the wonderful results of this experience is as follows. A few weeks before this healing took place, this same daughter came to me and said, "Mama, please don't make me go to Sunday School anymore. I don't understand it, and I don't enjoy going." Momentarily I was very disturbed for I had overcome a great deal of opposition to have our children enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School. So I told my daughter we would talk about this subject later. I saw a friend, and when I told him what my daughter had said, he remarked that instead of forcing her to go to Sunday School I could trust something good to change her thought. He was right!

When she asked me about the healing of my face, I explained just how it all took place, as I have related here. She sat around that day in a very thoughtful attitude. The next day she came to me and said, "Mama, I want to go back to Sunday School, and I don't ever want to miss." She and her sister are now class-taught, active students of Christian Science, and have been for many years.

My present husband, a dear companion, is class taught and is a dedicated, active member of our branch church. For this I am very grateful. I am deeply grateful to God for Christ Jesus and for Mrs. Eddy. I am also grateful for membership in The Mother Church and for class instruction.

I am the daughter referred to in my mother's testimony. How grateful I am that her healing led me back into Sunday School, with the blessed opportunity of learning Christian Science from dedicated and loving teachers. Mother Church and branch church membership as well as class instruction followed for me. For many years I had the joy of teaching Sunday School in my branch church. I am so grateful for Christian Science.
