Six years ago my husband and I were looking for a well-situated lot of land, as we had planned to build our home. We were mindful that home is really made up of spiritual qualities, such as peace, harmony, and joy. Our desire was to demonstrate this understanding, knowing that no erroneous belief can interfere with a worthwhile desire.

For many months our Sunday afternoon drives became an incessant search. Impatience was beginning to take hold of me, since in spite of the time that had gone by and my spiritual thought and prayer, the solution was not forthcoming. My husband, however, did not allow himself to be influenced by impatience, and we continued our search.

Then, at a very special moment for me—when I was preparing to take class instruction—the awaited opportunity presented itself. I went to class, and as the days went by I realized how useless and wrong anxiety is. I prayed that the correct solution might present itself in its own time, and I leaned on Isaiah 54, verses 2—4: "Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; for thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left.... Fear not." Mrs. Eddy's words in Science and Health (p. 201) were enlightening to me: "We cannot build safely on false foundations."

When the two weeks of class instruction were over, my husband informed me that all preparations had been made for the signing of the bill of sale. And here is a very important point: There was perfect harmony in the working out of the transaction. Also, the construction took place with no major problems. Everything turned out in accordance with our most heartfelt desires, and even better. Today we are enjoying our home.

I am very grateful to God for the scientific understanding I am gaining, and for having proved once more that (ibid., p. 1) "desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires, that they may be moulded and exalted before they take form in words and in deeds."

A little over ten years ago I was healed of a painful fungus condition on my hand. I learned that, as Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health (p. 383), "we need a clean body and a clean mind,— a body rendered pure by Mind as well as washed by water." Free, then, of the erroneous beliefs which had disturbed me, and guarding the door of my thought, I could joyfully see man's God-given perfection. The condition was healed, and it didn't recur.

Toward the end of 1972 some warts began appearing on my hands. I didn't pay much attention to them. At the beginning they didn't bother me, but they became very uncomfortable. I was serving as Sunday School superintendent and was reading a teacher's report of the healing of one of the children, who had healed himself of the same problem with his own understanding. While I was praying, that small pupil's demonstration of God's presence again came to thought, and with that thought came Peter's words (I Pet. 2:2): "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby." I realized that this was another opportunity to prove the healing power of the Christ, Truth, and I prayed about it, knowing that we have to put into practice what we have learned. In a short time the condition had disappeared, and it has not returned.

I am very grateful to Christian Science for the blessings we receive each day in our home, for the opportunity to work for the Cause in a branch church, for The Mother Church's activities throughout the world, and for having had class instruction.
