When I was ten years old, I developed a rash on my hands

When I was ten years old, I developed a rash on my hands. The condition persisted for two years. At one time it was so bad I couldn't write without discomfort. I talked to several Christian Science practitioners during this time; each of them helped me, and my thought became clearer.

At one time when the condition was worse than ever, I spent the day studying the Bible, and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. During the next week I filled my thought with love, knowing God loved me and I, as His idea, expressed love. Soon after that the rash went away. My gratitude was overwhelming!

I had had a wonderful change in my thought process, but I was still to learn more through this experience. Several months later while I was away from home the rash reappeared. I became frightened. Immediately I reversed the thought and erased my fear. Instead of feeling let down and giving up, I decided to work even harder. I became persistent in my study of Christian Science.

The truth in two passages of Science and Health became evident to me. My hands were very swollen and dry. In place of a lotion I looked up Mrs. Eddy's definition of "oil" (Science and Health, p. 592): "Consecration; charity; gentleness; prayer; heavenly inspiration." I also read this healing statement (ibid., p. 463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive." The word "properly" stood out. I knew that I could be healed properly and completely. That night before I slept, I put the rest in God's hands and let Him guide me from there. The next morning the rash had disappeared. I knew the healing was complete. I was free from "the yoke of bondage" (Gal. 5: 1). This healing occurred over two years ago and has been permanent. This healing has taught me to be more patient yet persistent in my prayer.

I am rejoicing in God's love. I am grateful that through Christian Science we can share and express His love.

I am happy to verify my daughter's healing. This was a trying time for her and our family, and she won by her steadfast reliance on Truth. We have all been blessed by this healing, and by the deeper understanding we all gained. We appreciate the prayerful help given by several practitioners at different times. We grow as we are forced to dig, and Heidi grew in her understanding and application of Christian Science.
