Christian Science has been my only physician and guide for the past fifty-five years. It is indeed a wonderful way of life. Science has shown me how to prove that God guides, governs, and protects every phase of our experience.
On one occasion I came home from work with a severe sore throat. Sitting down, I sought to realize clearly that there was absolutely no way in which I could be separated from the law of divine Principle, God, and therefore only harmony or health was present. In about five minutes I stood up, completely healed.
During the economic depression of the thirties, when funds were insufficient, I was given five years of college education with no expense to me for tuition, room, board, or books. As I continued to rely on divine guidance, employment immediately after college, and on several subsequent occasions when changes were required, became readily available.
In business, the realization that divine Mind governs all continuously, and that all people are really the sons and daughters of God, expressing Him constantly, has solved many personnel problems and brought great harmony to difficult meetings. Several times when no material theories were applicable to technical engineering problems, and no answers could be found in textbooks or technical articles, by turning to divine Mind the solutions were found. We did not always understand the phenomena involved, but the solutions became quite apparent.
I have great happiness and joy in a wonderful marriage to a student of Christian Science. This is a direct result of realizing man's true status of completeness as God's child. On several occasions suitable housing has been quickly located, even when realtors and others said that there was nothing available.
Recently, following some very strenuous work, I suffered considerable internal hemorrhaging. I held to my understanding of God's omnipotence and perfection and man's continuous reflection of Him, but fear seemed partiularly difficult to master. Suddenly the thought came, "What are you afraid of? The whole of matter is an illusion." As Mrs. Eddy says of the great show that matter puts on (Science and Health, p. 563), "But why should we stand aghast at nothingness?" A warm joy and inspiration flooded my consciousness, and I knew that all was well. This proved to be true. Some weeks later this condition tried to reappear, but any immediate return to the realization that it was only an illusion brought the healing right away.
The healings in our family have been so numerous they would fill many pages. But these I've related will illustrate some of the wonderful things we experience in all our activities when we turn to the teachings of Christian Science and listen humbly and diligently for the still small voice of Truth. How can one express in words one's gratitude for teachings which bring such spiritual understanding, joy, healing, and constant guidance!
