This testimony is submitted in deepest gratitude for the healing power of Christian Science.

The birth of our second child took place naturally and harmoniously with the aid of Christian Science treatment. However, on the morning that the infant and I were to be released from the hospital, the attending physician announced that alarming symptoms in the child had been observed, and he felt a further examination would be necessary. X rays were taken, and the resulting diagnosis was probable pneumonia. The doctor recommended medical treatment, but very kindly recognized our desire to rely solely on Christian Science for healing. No medication was given.

I look back on that day as one of the richest experiences of my life. The Christian Science practitioner who had helped at the time of delivery was again called for treatment, and her loving support was a tremendous help. Initially, both my husband and I had to deal with fear, and much comfort was found in the Bible verse (Isa. 41:10), "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

We began by replacing the limited view of our daughter as a helpless, vulnerable infant with the recognition of God as the only source of her strength and health. Gradually the fear yielded to a feeling of calm trust in our newfound conviction that this child, truly created and sustained by an all-loving God, was undeniably safe, perfect, and inseparable from Him. The anxious feeling of waiting through the day for further medical findings also gave way to the understanding that no verdict based on a false, material concept of man could alter the fact of this child's perfect, spiritual identity as God's reflection.

That evening the doctor returned to my room to say that the abnormal symptoms had completely disappeared and that further examination in the morning would determine whether or not the baby could be released. He also stated his support for our stand for Christian Science treatment and acknowledged its efficacy. For this we were most grateful.

The following morning our daughter was pronounced in perfect health and released from the hospital. Today she is strong and healthy. My gratitude is unbounded for this healing, and for the practitioner who stood by us so firmly. I am so thankful to God for the healing truth of Christian Science, as demonstrated by the Master, Christ Jesus, and as revealed to Mrs. Eddy, and for the Church of Christ, Scientist, which makes available to all mankind this practical, scientific understanding of God and man.

This experience has served as a milestone in my spiritual progress. Since that time, the application of Christian Science has continued to meet all our needs, bringing increasing joy and freedom to daily living. Other physical healings have occurred, including those of colds, influenza, bee stings, and earaches, and protection from accidents. Individual spiritual growth and more harmonious relationships have continued to bless our home and family. I am increasingly grateful for the privileges of Church membership and class instruction. It is a great joy to be a Christian Scientist.
