I am very happy to have been brought up in Christian Science

I am very happy to have been brought up in Christian Science. I have had many wonderful healings.

One summer when I was ten years old, I had a fall, and it was very apparent that I had broken my collarbone. I had a Christian Science practitioner treating me and my family's loving support. In one week I was free of all discomfort and able to use my arm. I thanked God and was very happy. The healing was complete in about three weeks, and I was able to begin school on time.

About a year ago I noticed some growths on two of my toes. I didn't give them much thought at the time. However, since I was attending a junior high school, I had to climb many steps and walk to many classes. My feet were starting to bother me; the growths became painful. So I told my mother about them and asked that she give me some truths to hold to as we are taught in Christian Science. I knew that since I was a reflection of God nothing inharmonious could touch me. We read in the Bible in the ninety-first Psalm, "There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling." And a statement I used from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was this (p. 527): "Man is God's reflection, needing no cultivation, but ever beautiful and complete." A few weeks later the growths fell away, and I could not tell where they had been. I was completely healed.

I am so happy that Christ Jesus taught his people of God's power and that Mrs. Eddy discovered and founded Christian Science. It is good to be able to rely on Science and to know that God is ever present. I turn to Him every day for help with my studies and tests.

I am so very grateful to have attended a Christian Science Sunday School since I was three and to be a member of The Mother Church.

Christian Science came into my experience through a sincere desire to know more of God. As a child, I relied on prayer as a remedy for all problems. It was my precious secret shared with no one. The many beautiful promises in the Bible such as "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you" (Matt. 7: 7), and many others, were accepted without question.

In later years, when I was ill with hepatitis, it was natural to turn to God for help. Health was soon restored, and I felt a great need to know more about this source of all good.

A friend, a student of Christian Science, whom I questioned, advised me to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy for myself. Later, I purchased a Concordance and other authorized books and went to work in earnest. I joined a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. Then followed the joyous privilege of class instruction.

The healing efficacy of Science has been proven to me many times through the years by the healing of physical problems, discordant relationships, and a chronic belief of poverty. Wonderful though these healings were, far more precious was the spiritual enlightenment that followed.

One time, while I was canning fruit, a jar of hot syrup exploded, spattering my face, neck, and arms, and a large piece of glass went into my arm, cutting it deeply. The family thought that stitches were needed, but instead the arm was bandaged, and a practitioner was called for prayer in Science. The wound healed within a week. The burns on my face and neck were gone in a few days.

Another healing was that of an injury from an attack by a neighbor's cat. He had visited me often, and I thought we were good friends. One day he suddenly sprang at me, fastened his teeth in my leg, and proceeded to severely claw my ankle. A next door neighbor came to my rescue and called the cat's owner from across the street. He wanted me to see a doctor at once, but I explained that I had another remedy that I trusted.

With help from a practitioner, the result was amazing. Not a mark was on my ankle the following day, and only a faint trace of teeth marks remained on my leg. Both neighbors were greatly impressed by this healing.

My grandson, when a high school senior, was told by his family physician that he had an incurable disease and should remain in bed. The parents, who were not students of Science, accepted the doctor's verdict and devoted their time and efforts toward making their son comfortable. When Christian Science was suggested to them, the response was that at least it could not hurt him.

The doctor was not prescribing for the boy at the time, so the parents called a Christian Science practitioner, who talked to the boy himself. He accepted the healing Truth. In three days he was back in school and able to resume activities in a sports program. His family doctor examined him before his return to school and stated that he could find nothing wrong with him at all.

Recently I had a sudden attack of influenza. With treatment in Science this was banished in a few hours, and a cough that had long been with me disappeared at the same time.

I am unspeakably grateful for the tireless labor of our dedicated practitioners. It is a joy to be learning more of Truth, to be putting aside human planning and waiting expectantly for divine Love's unfoldment of blessings far greater than anything we might dream of for ourselves. In Miscellaneous Writings Mrs. Eddy says (p. 118), "Be of good cheer; the warfare with one's self is grand; it gives one plenty of employment, and the divine Principle worketh with you, —and obedience crowns persistent effort with everlasting victory."

Christian Science is truly the Comforter promised by Christ Jesus.
