When I was a young girl, my mother was quite ill one evening

When I was a young girl, my mother was quite ill one evening. I can remember saying the Lord's Prayer over and over to myself as I stood in her room. In just a few minutes she was better. I knew nothing about Christian Science but felt that the prayer had a great deal to do with her recovery. It was several years later when I began to study Christian Science that I understood the healing power of this prayer Christ Jesus gave his disciples.

Christian Science was introduced into our home when we were a young married couple. My husband received a very quick healing of dysentery after calling a Christian Science practitioner whose name we found listed in a copy of The Christian Science Journal a relative of his had left in our home. We eagerly accepted what we read in the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and many healings took place.

One morning I awakened very early with an earache. As I could not think clearly, a practitioner was called. She came to our home, and after a few moments she started softly saying Mrs. Eddy's beautiful hymn, "O gentle presence, peace and joy and power" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 207). She repeated about two lines, and it was as if a knife lanced the ear, and all pain ceased.

After working many years in an eastern city, my husband wanted to move to the West Coast. We felt that this was a right idea and held to the fact that God would carry us all the way. We arrived in the city of our choice on a Friday. He went to a practitioner for prayerful help in securing employment. On the following Tuesday he had a position, and was happily and gainfully employed for many years until his retirement.

I am most grateful for a son who has proved the healing power of Christian Science through two serious illnesses, and for his wife, who when they were first married was very opposed to his religion but who, through a healing of her own, is now an active member of a Church of Christ, Scientist. I am very grateful for the many blessings of Christian Science, and for a husband who has shared this wonderful religion with me.

I wish to verify the testimony of my wife and confirm my own healing.

I would like to express my gratitude for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church and for class instruction.
