Someone in pain needs more than sympathetic words. He needs more than the temporary escape drugs promise. He needs relief from suffering. He needs Christian Science.

Christian Science heals effectively and permanently. It is showing humanity the Christly way to harmony and health.

The ministry of Christ Jesus was marked by healing. He healed people by spiritual means alone. In his own time of sorest trial he fully trusted God, refusing all earthly help, and won the victory of resurrection and ascension, proving the eternal truth of immortality. He proved that even the severest human difficulty could not exceed or elude the amplitude of God's tender mercies. Mrs. Eddy points out, "Divine Truth, Life, and Love gave Jesus authority over sin, sickness, and death. His mission was to reveal the Science of celestial being, to prove what God is and what He does for man." ^{Science and Health, p. 26;}

When we fix our goal beyond matter and direct our footsteps Spiritward, we rally to the same unfailing divine strength that sustained the Master. Victory and rejoicing crown the lifework of all who outgrow the limitations of mortality by taking up the daily cross of spiritual self-discipline.

Jesus, our great teacher, prophesied, prayed, and promised that God would send a Comforter to help us. His prophecy has been fulfilled, his prayer answered, his promise proved true, in Christian Science. It is showing us how we too can abide in the heavenly harmony of spiritual understanding even when discord and suffering seem to prevail. It demonstrates that nothing can confuse, discourage, or defeat the Christ, Truth.

As compassionately as a loving mother would waken her child from a nightmare, as calmly as a mathematician would correct an error in computation, Christian Science heals the sick. It shows that God, infinite good, the only creator, constitutes eternal reality. It proves that God's wholly good, complete, spiritual creation, including all real individuality, is incapable of knowing or being evil.

Because God, the all-knowing, divine Mind, neither knows nor creates evil, there is nothing in His creation to do evil, nothing to be punished or destroyed. Therefore, though some may regard pain as punishment or penalty, it is evident that in God's absolutely perfect universe pain is impossible.

In Truth, Life, and Love—in God, who is All-in-all—there is no error. Therefore in man, God's own beloved creation, there can be no inharmony or pain. All real individuality is spiritual, pure, and eternal, not material and mortal. Therefore health and harmony are a present possibility for us all.

The healing truth explained in Christian Science enables one to see that God, infinite Mind, is knowable and all-knowing. In proportion to our obedience, thoroughness, and fidelity in the study and practice of Christian Science, we find the divine laws of Truth, Life, and Love, taught and practiced by Jesus, practical and provable.

In the degree we recognize that suffering is not a symptom of something real but rather an acute but false sense of life in matter, which can be neither real cause nor effect, we gain dominion over pain. Actually, instead of the suppositious corporeality outlined by deceitful material sense testimony, all true being is the spiritual, sinless, painless, perfect expression of divine Life. And Christ Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." ^{John 10:10;} We can aspire to freedom from pain as we rise above the mortal belief in it and grasp the reality of being as the expression of all-harmonious Spirit.

Christian Science treatment brings healing to human minds and bodies through prayer. One touch of Truth, realized through prayer, comforts, repairs, renews, and revivifies the whole system. Through radical reliance upon the healing and teaching method of Christian Science, we follow in the way Jesus pioneered among men, the way leading out of mortal belief into the consciousness of immortality and eternal life.

Christian Science is helping humanity toward complete realization of perfect manhood. To the degree we realize the truth of being that man is spiritual and immortal, not material and mortal, we entertain the Comforter and experience or witness a correlative release from the miseries of mortality. Nothing can separate man from infinite Truth, Life, and Love, nor supplant his right to Love's blessings of comfort and healing. We need not be helpless before pain. We can choose to entertain the Comforter.

Through the ministry of Christian Science the work of the Comforter continues to develop on earth as it guides and heals those who seek spiritual refuge from sin, sickness, and death. Science and Health declares: "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth. This understanding casts out error and heals the sick, and with it you can speak 'as one having authority.'" ^{Science and Health, p. 14.}
