LIFE IN THE ACADEMIC COMMUNITY

Are Twenty-four Hours Enough?

I can't help being impressed by the tremendous good Jesus found time to accomplish. In a short healing ministry—just a few years—this young teacher from Nazareth, a former carpenter, laid a foundation that was to revolutionize the world.

The four Gospels, filled as they are with his healing and teaching, cover only a small part of Jesus' career. John hinted at how much more Jesus actually did when he closed his Gospel, saying, "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written." John 21:25; John certainly overstated the situation a bit, but his words do serve to show us how much Christ Jesus did accomplish and point up the fact that the limitation of time—only twenty-four hours in a day —truly did not overpower him.

The combination of academic pressure and lack of time tends to interfere with many students' success. Of course, Christian Science can't stretch time or add to the hours in a day. But there is a spiritual solution to high-pressure situations.
