For the many blessings that Christian Science has brought to...

For the many blessings that Christian Science has brought to my life, I want to express my sincerest gratitude. I shall always be grateful for the attitude of joy and love that my parents, both Christian Scientists, instilled in our household. Their loving spirit, lack of fear, and prayerful work for our protection resulted in an extremely happy and healthy childhood for me. The very few so-called childhood diseases that I had were healed entirely through Christian Science.

When I was very young, there appeared an ugly black growth on my front teeth. The dentist, who was an acquaintance of my family, said this could not be removed by any known human methods and advised my parents to rely on their understanding of Christian Science. Through the prayerful treatment of a Christian Science practitioner and the prayers of my parents, the condition was completely healed, and within several months my teeth were normal. They have remained in excellent condition since.

The first test of my own understanding came when I went to college. For several winters before, I had had a painful knee condition at recurring intervals, and had always asked my parents for Christian Science help to overcome this. One day during a college class, the pain was so severe that I had to return to my room. I recognized this as an opportunity to prove God's healing power for myself and realized that if I were to be healed both my parents thought and my own must be completely freed from belief in this handicap.

I began studying passages from the Bible and from our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, knowing that since God is All and has created man in His image, matter can have no power because it does not exist. While I was praying in this way, my knee became normal, and the pain has never returned.

Briefly I would like to express gratitude for the inspiration Christian Science has given me in two other ways. As a musician, I have been greatly helped by this truth in overcoming fear and in realizing that God is the great creator and performer we need to reflect.

The understanding of God's omnipresence was helpful to my husband and me the past few years while we were living in another country. We were protected in our many travels. We are especially grateful for the branch churches all over the world.

Then, too, knowing that God is the one Parent is a great aid in raising our family. We need to know that our responsibility is to reflect God and, in so doing, we will rightly guide our young ones. I experienced a completely harmonious and natural birth in the recent arrival of our second daughter.

I am indeed grateful to God for showing us the truth through Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and through Mrs. Eddy's discovery of Christian Science.
