It has occurred to me that a testimony about my experience...
It has occurred to me that a testimony about my experience might be of help to someone seeking aid for a similar malady through Christian Science. I had witnessed many healings of my wife and two children through the study of this truth but had not accepted it myself. At one time I had asked help from a Christian Science practitioner for a severe cold and had had an instantaneous healing. I had tried to read Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, but with a closed mind. I did not accept Science until about twenty-five years later.
Then one day in the office I had a severe epileptic attack and had to be driven home. My wife then told me that I had been having these attacks for some months, mostly at night, but that she had prayed about it, denying the condition power or reality, and so had not told me. Now, however, this condition necessitated my being removed from the work I was doing, and though I retained my office, I had nothing to do. I was sent to the medical department and thence to many specialists, who advised me they could not heal me.
I began to do much reading. I did not intend to take up Christian Science, but I asked my wife for a copy of Science and Health to read. This time the pages were clear, concise, and enlightened for me, and so I started to study it.
After my study of Christian Science had begun, and with the loving prayerful metaphysical support of my wife, the attacks became less frequent, and finally the healing came. The illumination of my thinking through the understanding that my true selfhood is derived from God grew into deep gratitude for this wonderful way of life.
After my acceptance of Christian Science many errors were overcome, such as the smoking habit, social drinking, and a heart condition.
I am grateful that false concepts of life are being corrected through the wonderful truth of man's life in God, as learned in Christian Science, which has the solution to all human problems.
I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church and for the satisfaction of growth through service to the church. I have served as a First Reader, treasurer in two churches, board member, usher, and on committees, all of which I have enjoyed. I am also grateful for class instruction with a dedicated teacher.

I wish to verify my husband's wonderful healing and to state that although it took several years, the healing has been permanent. We both gained much wisdom and understanding through this trial. When the illness first became apparent one night, the subject of the Bible Lesson for that week in the Christian Science Quarterly was "Life." I arose and began studying the lesson, and one line in the textbook, Science and Health, stood out to me (p. 215): "Whatever is governed by God, is never for an instant deprived of the light and might of intelligence and Life." I clung to this all through the remainder of that night and for many days after. My husband was able to carry on his work each day safely. However, this was not my demonstration to make, and when this became apparent to him and he saw his own need to prove his God-derived freedom for himself, the healing began. Since that time there have been many wonderful healings, and all kinds of problems have been solved.
When I first learned of Christian Science, I was invited to attend a church service with a friend, and was so struck with the love and joy expressed by all at this service that I began to attend a Church of Christ, Scientist, regularly. Through this attendance, and study of the Bible and the textbook, I was healed of severe headaches I had had periodically since childhood. Later our children were healed of colitis, mastoids in a severe form, cuts, and bruises. Measles were healed overnight. Over the past forty years I have been healed of appendicitis, a tumor, and many other physical problems, such as the need to wear glasses. It is indeed a joy to serve in this great and wonderful Cause, thereby serving God.
