Twenty-one years ago I was suffering from a severe stomach difficulty. As time went on, the condition grew more acute, and I was unable to retain any food. The doctor could do no more for me.
The owner of the dry cleaning company where I was employed was a devout Christian Scientist. He realized the situation and suggested that I try Christian Science. I thought, "Why not?" Material aids had not helped. He very kindly offered to make an appointment for me with a Christian Science practitioner.
The visit with the practitioner was a turning point in my life. That evening before I retired, an indescribable feeling came over my whole body. It was an experience I shall never forget. I had a good night's sleep, and the next day, for the first time in many months, I ate anything I wanted, and have been doing so ever since.
There is a more recent healing experience I would like to share. I was visiting a relative in another town. She, her daughter, and I were sitting talking on the enclosed front porch. Then the daughter left to go to her own home. I accompanied her to the door. As the storm door was opened, a heavy piece of metal broke loose and fell from the top of the door, hitting the back of my left hand. The hand began to swell, and there was much pain.
I knew that there are no accidents in God's kingdom and that God holds each idea in perfection. However, I called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. Within a few minutes the pain abated. I was able to have a good night's sleep and could drive my car home with ease. I am truly grateful for this healing and for protection when driving my car.
I have had the privilege of membership in The Mother Church and a branch church and of Christian Science class instruction. Working for God and the church is a blessed experience.
Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health (p. 1), "Desire is prayer." My desire is to live as Jesus taught, so that others may be attracted to Christian Science. I am truly grateful for Christian Science.
